Four ways to build a set
Manual entry is the classic editor: type a question and answer per card. Paste Q&As bulk-imports one pair per line, split on a tab, “ - ”, or “: ” — handy for notes exported from a spreadsheet or another app. AI Generate reads your lecture notes, a pasted chapter, or an uploaded DOCX/PDF and writes the questions for you, flagging each card as verified or unverified against your source. Import Quizlet pulls the cards out of any public Quizlet set URL, since Quizlet locked flashcard export behind its paywall.
However you build it, the set saves to your browser and opens in study mode with flashcards, multiple-choice tests, and AI explanations. Your sets live on your dashboard.
How AI verification works
Most AI flashcard generators will happily invent plausible-sounding answers. Ours won't pass one off silently: every generated card is checked against your source text, and a card is only marked ✓ VERIFIED when the answer is backed by a direct quote from your material — the quote is shown under the card so you can confirm it yourself. Anything the AI couldn't ground is flagged ⚠ UNVERIFIED for you to review or delete before saving. The same principle drives our answer keys, where answers are cited to federal sources.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account to save a study set?
No. Sets are saved in your own browser (localStorage), so there is no signup and nothing leaves your device when you save. The trade-off: clearing your browser data deletes your sets, and they do not sync between devices.
What can the AI generator read?
Pasted text, or an uploaded DOCX, PDF, or TXT file up to 10MB. You choose how many questions to generate, from 5 to 30.
What does the VERIFIED badge on a card mean?
The AI grounded that answer in a direct quote from your source material, and the quote is shown under the card. Cards marked UNVERIFIED could not be grounded in your text, so double-check them before trusting them.
Can I import a set from Quizlet?
Yes. Paste any public Quizlet set URL into the Import Quizlet tab and the cards load into the editor. If a set is private or blocked, open it, copy the terms, and use the Paste tab instead.
Why make flashcards instead of rereading my notes?
Retrieval practice — forcing yourself to recall an answer — produces far more durable learning than rereading, an effect replicated across decades of memory research (the "testing effect"). Flashcards with self-testing are one of the simplest ways to apply it.
